ABOUT US
In 1991, John Steele closed the chapter on his career as a business executive, and began assembling cars for customers. He founded JPS Motorsports Inc in 1998. John saw that modern cars were becoming less and less unique. More and more he saw new cars being introduced with featureless styling, air conditioning, cruise control, automatic gearboxes...cars that had less and less soul, cars that were insulating the driver from the feeling of driving. Having always loved classic cars, John set out to create a car that was exciting, visceral and a thrill to drive - a car that would remind its owner of the true joy of driving. Using the iconic shape of the Speedster, he created the JPS. He then introduced the Flared Speedster and the Coupe. In 2017, a former customer Patrick Crane started JPS Classics LLC, a separate and new company focused exclusively on the new JPS Classic line of pre-produced 'turnkey minus' cars, in order to offer a Speedster at a lower price and faster timeframe for customers with less need for customization. JPS Classics enjoys technical oversight from John Steele, and the two companies operate side by side in San Marcos California. More than 450 JPS cars have now been completed, and are thrilling our customers all over the world.
